A short guided meditation to bring you into the present moment
During these past few years we have sought more peace and questioned how we might bring greater joy and more calm into our daily lives. We regularly ask ourselves ‘how can we make the most of the life we have?’. While still very much on this journey of discovery, we have found that short guided meditations can play a grounding role. Meditations can help to change your state of mind, accompanying you to an elevated mood and set you off on a positive path for the day ahead.
In collaboration with Tom Fortes Mayer, respected author, psychologist, and motivational speaker, we have created 4 short meditations for our guests on the guiding values we have come to cherish: presence, peace, playfulness and possibility. We hope that these might be useful in helping guests enjoy more of their time with us but also hope that these meditations can become tools for people to fall in love with and take away to use at home.
As a welcome introduction and starting point, our first guided meditation focuses on helping us become more present to the current moment, bringing our awareness to all that is happening around us. The present moment is the only place life actually happens: the past is memory, the future is imagination. As we become more present we are able to sense the extraordinary in the ordinary, to notice all that we already have, and can feel all that we are already connected to more vibrantly.
The hope is that through greater presence we will miss less of life as it unfolds around us; that we will have less anxiety and regret by anchoring ourselves in what’s real and manageable right now, cutting down on ruminations about the past or worrying about the future. With greater presence comes greater connection helping us to strengthen our relationships with one another: we listen better, love more fully, and respond with more empathy. Increased awareness of the beauty in the little things in life can bring us more joy and gratitude from simple daily moments – the place most of us live most of the time! Through presence we can be nourished by all that already exists around us.
